A big thanks to our learners and centre staff. This award is in recognition of the great work the learners and staff do in all of F1's learning centres.

You're never too young to learn new skills: A case study of overcoming personal demons, perceived barriers to employment and understanding that we all have value.
Rob had been made redundant four years ago, was frustrated that he could not find work and felt his age and lack of qualifications were major barriers to him finding employment.
Perceived and attitudinal barriers to employment and sometimes harder to support than physical barriers. Click on the link/picture to read how the team at F1’s Ipswich centre helped Rob to overcome his barriers to employment and find sustainable employment.

Each month we ask our staff from each department to write a case study on the good work our clients do and share success stories.

This month we have decided to publish a nice story about Bob, one of our work programme customers in Norfolk.

This was a quick journey for our customer to gain the support that helped him to understand what he needed to gain sustainable employment.

Sometimes all it takes is faith, focus and support from a mentor to achieve your goals in life. In this case study, the help of the customers Mum also helped the customer access training and support. Please click the picture to read more.

How Brian found his dream job with F1 Training – Case study

Brian has previously working in the construction sector and due to the hard nature of the work, he had back problems and could not continue. Brian had previously been a labourer and had some forklift experience.

When Brian’s back problems started his self-confidence and motivation to work started to falter. Even Brian’s eating patterns changed, this was seen in the amount of weight he lost through this process.

Speaking to Brian, he felt he had a low chance of getting a job with his back problems and with his work experience of working in a sector that Brian felt he could now no longer work in. Brian was referred to F1 Training from Ingeus’s Norwich Work Programme project.

Fred’s journey back into work

F1 Training delivers the National Careers Service (NCS) contract in Norfolk, Suffolk and Bedfordshire. NCS is a government funded initiative aimed at helping adults gain access to advice, guidance and support to help them improve skills and employability.

The following case study is a nice example of how F1 Training’s NCS advisors have helped one of our clients back into work.

Fred’s journey back into work gives a good example of the type of journey you may follow in gaining access to support.

NCS is available to adults over 20 if you are employed or over 18 if you are referred from Job Centre Plus. Click on the photo to read more about Fred’s journey.

Bob came to F1 Training in Gt. Yarmouth to get some qualifications for the first time in his life.

Bob needed formal qualifications to help him get a new job after being made redundant.

He had no formal qualifications and felt his previous skills had no value in the local job market.

He was frustrated that he couldn’t find a fulfilling job.
